How do I add roles?
Adding roles allows you to match members with different roles, for example New Starters with Managers (for onboarding) or Founders with Investors (for co-working spaces).
YouTube tutorial: Onboarding Program
How do I add roles to a Catchup?
- Navigate to the Catchup Home tab in your workspace.
- Click Channel Settings and select Add Roles.
- Fill in the input fields Role 1 and Role 2.
- Click Save.
After the roles are added, each channel member will receive a direct message from the Catchup bot asking them to choose one of the two options. If a user joins the channel after the roles have been added, they will also receive a direct message asking them to choose an option. Channel members can also select the option in the Catchup Home tab.
All subsequent pairings will then always include at least one member from each option.
How do I rename roles?
- Navigate to the Catchup Home tab in your workspace.
- Click Roles Settings and select Edit Roles.
- Update the input fields Role 1 and Role 2.
- Click Save.
Channel members will not receive another direct message after the roles have been renamed. However, channel members will see the updated role names in the original direct message / the Catchup Home tab.
How do I assign roles?
- Navigate to the Catchup Home tab in your workspace.
- Click Roles Settings and select Assign Roles.
- Select or change the role for any channel member. The role names are prefixed with a green / blue square to make it easier to see which member has which role.
Channel members will not receive another direct message after their roles have been changed. However, channel members will see the updated role selected in the original direct message / the Catchup Home tab.
How do I delete roles?
- Navigate to the Catchup Home tab in your workspace.
- Click Roles Settings and select Delete Roles.
- Confirm by clicking Delete Roles in the modal.
If you delete the roles and add new roles at a later point, all channel members will receive a new direct message asking them to pick one of the new options.
If you want to only change the names of the roles, please use the Edit Roles modal (see How do I rename roles? instead).
What happens if a channel member doesn't pick a role?
Only channel members that selected an option will be matched. We recommend using the Assign Roles modal (see How do I assign roles? to select the correct option for members who didn't pick an option.
What happens if there are more users with one role than the other?
The Catchup bot ensures that all pairings will include at least one member from each option. If there are more users with one role than the other, then in some cases some users might not be matched. However, if a Catchup has roles, the Catchup bot will prioritize users who couldn't be matched for the next matching.
