How do you create a Catchup?
YouTube tutorial: Virtual Coffee - Catchup for Slack
Deciding on a channel
First, decide which channel should be your Catchup channel. To create a new channel:
- Click on Add channels at the bottom of your Slack workspaces channel list, then click Create a new channel.
- Choose a name. Here are some name ideas: #coffee, #coffee-club, #tea-time, #meet-members, #networking (Slack doesn't let you call your channel #catchup when the app is installed).
- Don't set the channel to private if you're on the free Starter plan.
- Optionally, add a channel description (for example "Get matched with other members every 2 weeks ☕").
Creating the Catchup
- Navigate to the Catchup Home tab in your workspace.
- Click 🚀 Start a Catchup Channel.
- Choose your Catchup channel, weekday, time and frequency.
- Click Start Catchup.
- Add members to the Catchup channel (see Slack documentation for details). The members of the channel will be matched. The channel needs to have at least 2 members.
- The first Catchup will happen depending on your chosen settings.
